I'm rocking the chop on 21/11/2024

With so many in my family affected by the 'c' word, I am fundraising to help put a stop to cancer.

Did you know that 1 in 2 Queenslanders will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime?

I’m taking part in Cancer Council’s Ponytail Project campaign to raise funds that will support Queenslanders impacted by cancer.

Since rocking the chop in 2022 with the help of the beautiful Kristy at Giggles Hair Salon, my hair has returned to its original length so I will be rocking the chop again this year to raise money. All funds raised will go towards cancer research, prevention programs and support services. This means everything from transport to get cancer patients to and from their medical appointments, to assisting childcare facilities to keep kids safe from the sun.

Every ponytail chopped will make a difference to the lives of people affected by cancer #chopforchange.

I know that I can help create change.

Will you support me?

Only 2 days until the 'chop'. Thank you to Annabelle and Peter, Alex Mum and Ms Saunders for your donations to the Ponytail Project's Rock the Chop.

Countdown to Rock the Chop

Tuesday 29th Oct
In my previous post, I included a photo of Carly and I as it was the only photo I could find with my hair down (and brushed). That photo then manifested the idea of having Carly join me in rocking the chop. I am pleased to announce that Carly will not only be rocking the chop with me, but also donating her ponytail to create a wig for a cancer patient.

Between us, we have raised $180 so far. A big thank you to Casey, Will and Fletcher for your support - even the smallest amount can make a big difference.

Carly and I will be rocking the chop on the 21st of November at Giggles Hair Salon with the beautiful Kristy and her team. With less than a month to go, the pressure is on to hit our fundraising goal of $700. With every hundred dollars above our target, I will chop an extra cm of hair to create an even better wig for someone affected by the dreaded 'c' word.

My ponytail donation

Saturday 21st Sep
After trying to choose a new profile photo for this year's chop, I realised I hardly ever wear my hair out so I may as well donate my ponytail to someone who will actually use it. For every $100 that exceeds my fundraising goal, I will chop an extra centimeter of hair to donate towards making a wig.
