Support

We offer a range of services to support anyone affected by cancer. Our practical support services include providing accommodation and transport to patients and their families who need to travel to receive cancer treatment.

We also provide cancer counselling services and emotional support services. Our 13 11 20 Information and Support line assists thousands of people every day to get the answers, information and advice they need about cancer. We are committed to making cancer information and support accessible to all Australians, regardless of where they live.

Research

Cancer Council is the largest non-government funder of cancer research in Australia. We are committed to conducting and funding world class research which will benefit all Australians. Research and prevention and early detection programs have led to a significant improvement in the five-year cancer survival rate, from 53% to 74% in the last 40 years. Every day, we’re funding Australia’s brightest minds as they work on cancer breakthroughs.

Prevention

Our vision is for a cancer free future. We develop programs that encourage and empower people to lead healthier lifestyles to reduce their cancer risk. We engage in grant schemes that assist community groups catering to children and young people to build shade structures. We also provide workplaces with the resources they need to encourage their staff to eat healthily to reduce their overall cancer risk. We equip the community with the knowledge they need to prevent cancer.

Advocacy

We work with the community and all levels of government to change laws and policies to reduce cancer risks and improve cancer care. We urge local politicians to take an active interest in our mission to help us shape the future of issues such as smoking laws.
